3 Children Injured in Los Angeles Hit and Run Accident

On October 29^th three young children were struck by a car which then left the scene.  The boys were only 4 and 6 years old.  Their sister was the oldest at 11 years old.  The three children were all taken to a local hospital.  None of the children sustained life threatening injuries.

It is unbelievable that any driver could be so cold-hearted as to leave the scene after injuring three children.  They driver may have fled in terror of the consequences, but has just increase their problems dramatically.  The driver can now be tried his actions under the California Vehicle Code.  They may discover their days of driving freely about the community have been replaced with walking around a courtyard in an orange jumpsuit.

The Continuing Pain for the Family

The second part of this tragedy is on the financial side.  In an accident of involving pedestrians the driver’s auto insurance is often responsible for paying for the medical costs.  At this time the family of the children is facing a major financial challenge through no fault of their own.  Even with a fast recovery the cost will be thousands of dollars.

Make sure you do not exceed the speed limit in residential areas and pay special attention around schools and playgrounds.  Remember on rainy or snowy days to slow down even more.  Your ability to stop quickly will be greatly reduced.

The FDA has chosen to allow the sale of this drug while at the same time warning those who use it that they may be at greater risk of bladder cancer. The risk is related to the dosage that is taken as well as the length of time the medication is used. The longer it is taken and the higher the cumulative dose plays a large role in determining the risk of cancer.

Anyone taking Actos® should know about the warning signs and symptoms of bladder cancer so it may be detected quickly. Signs and symptoms that you should be on the lookout for include:

A presence of blood in the urine
Painful urination
Lower abdomen or back pain
An urge to urinate with no urine stream produced

The manufacturer of this medication has not sufficiently warned patients of the potential risk. As a result, Actos® lawsuits are now under review across the nation. The FDA has taken another step in alerting consumers to the risks associated with this drug. They have now asked the drug manufacturer to place a warning on the medication. This is known as a black box warning, the strongest warning available, and is designed to alert users to the risk of cardiovascular events that are adverse. As of now, the FDA already requires that this medication carries warnings about the risk of potential arterial, stroke, hypertension and heart attack. If you are already suffering from congestive heart failure, Actos® may make this condition worse. If any symptoms of heart failure appear, contact your doctor immediately. These include difficulty breathing, hand/feet swelling, unusual tiredness and/or sudden or unusual weight gain.

Jaundice of the eyes
Loss of appetite
Nausea
Muscle Pain
Shortness of breath
Sinus infection
Sore throat
Stomach pain
Tooth problems
Vision problems
Water retention
